My entire professional life has been about two things: language and communication. My work history features jobs ranging from language teaching to career development program administration in such drastically unrelated fields as oil and gas companies and non-profit sector. Moving to Canada 15 years ago had marked a turning point in my professional career when I discovered a community interpreter training program, which proved to be the key to re-establishing myself as a professional in a new country.
Now, years later, as a licensed community interpreter trainer, I've found a whole new way of applying my professional expertise: I help aspiring interpreters “translate” their bi-/multilingual skills into real value in the rapidly growing translation industry. In addition to equipping my trainees with technical skills, I support them in cultivating genuine passion for cross-cultural communication, a bias-free mindset, professional pride and leadership so that, as future practitioners, they continue to promote and raise the prestige of this truly rewarding profession.
