Fabián Juan Armijo serves as the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH). In this role he oversees the Language Services Department, Native American Health Services, Community Engagement, and DE&I Education. Before becoming a health care executive, Fabián worked as a trilingual (Spanish-Portuguese-English) medical interpreter. He studied at the Universidade de São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil, Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the University of New Mexico. Before working in health care, Fabián worked in the public and private education systems in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain. He continues to interpret for patients at UNMH when he has the chance and fills in as interpreter trainer when necessary.
