About Me:
Lena Moran is a native of Mexico City, Mexico and currently a resident of Ventura County, CA. Lena holds a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis on Social Justice and Leadership from Antioch University Santa Barbara, where she did research on the topic of children who are used as interpreters and with her thesis focusing on the creation of an evaluation system of interpretation and translation services in school districts. As an educator, activist and advocate, Lena's expertise has led her to facilitate workshops and trainings across California and provide consultation to organizations, school districts and government agencies as well as present and speak at conferences throughout the United States. Lena is a licensed trainer for The Community Interpreter, a program of Cross-Cultural Communications, an interpreter and translator and expert in the field of language justice. Lena has experience in program development, implementation and delivery of diversity, equity and inclusion work with educators, families, youth, non profit organizations, government agencies, and more. Lena has presented at various conferences, including Facing Race: A National Conference (2016), CSUCI: Conference for Social Justice in Education (2019), 2nd Annual Social Justice Education Conference (2019). In 2018, Lena received a Congressional recognition for her work in coordinating and providing language access services during and after the Thomas Fire and Montecito Mudslide disasters.
