Serves beginning interpreters studying for medical interpreter certification and certified interpreters (CHIs and CMIs) seeking continuing education to maintain their credentials. The course satisfies the prerequisite training needed before applying for medical interpreter certification with the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) or the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI). It is also approved for CCHI and IMIA/NBCMI CEUs.
The 4th edition of Medical Terminology for Interpreters isn’t just an update — it’s a game-changer. More than twice the length of its predecessor, this expanded edition dives deep into ten human body systems, packed with new and advanced exercises, real-world role plays, and self-assessment tools.
Designed to help interpreters master medical terminology and prepare for certification, it’s essential for contract interpreters, bilingual staff, and now hospital staff interpreters, too. Perfect for autonomous learners or classroom settings, this handbook is an invaluable resource for every medical interpreter’s toolkit.
We also offer periodic live training sessions on medical terminology for interpreters, often hosted by renowned trainer Cynthia Roat. These live events provide an interactive, hands-on learning experience, and are a great way for interpreters to stay current with the latest in medical terminology.
MTIO is composed of 5 short courses. These lessons feature 2 video hosts, more than 70 interactive activities, 4 role plays, detailed anatomical diagrams, quizzes, and much more.
