We’re thrilled to announce that Cross-Cultural Communications has been named the 2025 Institutional Language Access Champion by the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)–and we couldn’t be more honored.
This recognition celebrates the collective impact of our entire CCC community. Every trainer who has shared their expertise, every author who has contributed to our resources, every partner organization, and every professional who has trained with us has played a part in advancing language access across healthcare, education, and the legal system. This award truly belongs to all of us.
Each year, NCIHC selects just two recipients for their Language Access Champion awards—one individual and one institution. We’re proud to stand alongside this year’s individual honoree Michael J. Mulé, Department of Justice Employee.
Being recognized alongside Michael, whose groundbreaking work has shaped language access policy and advocacy nationwide, makes this honor even more meaningful.
“This recognition belongs to so many people,” reflects John Arroyave, our director.. “I think of all the authors, trainers, and webinar presenters who have shared their expertise over the years—and especially of Analía Castillero-Lang, whose love for the profession and tireless enthusiasm for training interpreters continues to inspire us all,” We also honor the vision of our founder, Marjory Bancroft, whose pioneering work laid the foundation for everything we accomplish today. This award celebrates not just our current team, but decades of dedication to professional excellence in language access.”
Our team will accept this award on behalf of our entire community at the 2025 NCIHC Language Access Congress, to be held September 25–27 in Little Rock, Arkansas. You can also catch CCC experts Liliana and Analia presenting Innovative Approaches to Interpreter Training and Continuing Education: Shaping the Future of the Profession. The event will feature a keynote by renowned legal advocate Mara Youdelman, 20+ educational sessions, and the beloved “Interpretini” reception, where we’ll celebrate together.
This award is a celebration of language access as a right—and of the people working every day to make that right a reality. It’s a reminder of how far the interpreting profession has come, and how much work still lies ahead. It’s a moment to reflect, but also to recommit.
